Update on G

We are home from surgery.  It took over 3 hours to complete and I was starting to get a little nervous.  The mass was much larger than expected and the doctor had to go through the mastoid bone to get to it.  It had corroded two of the three bones used for hearing so they had to be removed and replaced with titanium.  They don't know if this will result in a hearing loss or not, we'll have to wait a couple of months to find out.  They also don't know if they got the entire mass so we have a CT scan in our future to determine that.

Right now G is sporting super cool head gear complete with stickers the nurse put on there.  I have lots of bloody cotton and incision fun in my near future.

I was OVERWHELMED with the amount of texts, emails, and phone calls.  Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine such an outpouring of love.  Thank you all so much.   I will update more later!

  1. I am so glad to read that things went well! Your little man looks adorable in his surgery hat! And yes, bloody cotton and post-op stuff is still to come, but so is lots of love and cuddles from Mama's little man. I will keep you in my prayers for a perfect CT and a speedy recovery! And maybe somewhere in the midst, some rest and peace for Mama. Love to your family.

  2. Keri, glad G is home now and that your Mom is coming to hang out with you. I am dying to be there with you all! We're saying lots of prayers for you -- for your energy, for your time with G, for your peace of mind. Lots of love coming your way!

  3. And just looking at that picture of him in the hospital bed..... gives you a glimpse of what a handsome doctor he would make. LOL

I am so thankful all went well today. I have to admit, I prayed last night and totally forgot to pray today. But I pray now that they got it all and that he doesn't lose any hearing.

You are a good mama..... and I giggled at the teddy bear part for your husband, rubbing it in dirt and smelly socks.LOL

Get some rest and can't wait to see you....baby will be here in 6, SIX...6DAYS.
