A broken heart

My heart is breaking for my little boy.  We have watched him struggle in 4th grade all year long, but have just finally gotten him to admit that he's being bullied at school.

I want to wrap him up in my arms and hide in a corner to keep him from being hurt.  I want him to stop trying so very hard to regain favor with the boys that have chosen to tease and make fun of him.   I want to magically restore his confidence so he will believe in himself again.   I want to go to the school and wring some 9 year old necks.

We are trying to figure out where the line is between teaching your child how to face and overcome adversity and flat out removing your child from a difficult situation.

Please pray for us as we try to work through this.

  2. My heart aches for you right now. I will be praying for wisdom on how you must handle the situation and for him to grow from this experience.

  3. Oh no, this would be one of my worst nightmares. I am really sad to hear this. What is the update at this point with it all?

I have expressed to Hunter why it is that some may choose to "bully" or be mean to him or others. I have also thought Hunter that if he sees a kid being "bullied" on, then HE needs to go over and defend that kid. I dont want him to get hurt, but I know he is strong enough and fearless enough, as well as has a soft enough heart that he would do it.

I want him to learn how to be strong and independent for himself and to help out others like your son in those situations.

I hurt as a mommy for him. Bless his heart.

I have to say this as a friend, because I am on the outside and able to think rationally than you at the moment about this. I also teach Hunter to "pray" for those types of kids. Asking God to help show those kids they don't have to be that way. We have to keep in mind they are kids and WE "parent" (and our kids) have no understanding what goes on behind closed doors to those kids lives to make them want to be the way they are to other children.

I love to know how you have chosen to handle it and what was said to him. Maybe I can learn something from it all to, and share with Hunter.

Im sorry mommy you are going through this.

  4. We appear to have some things in common. We, too, battled with a bullying issue with my son in the 6th grade. Thankfully, things have worked out. But it took a village, and even some changes in my son! If you ever want to hear our story, let me know.

I found your blog through your most recent commend to the LPM blog. I am praying for you, and myself as well.
