October Happenings

It is the beginning of October which means the opportunity to celebrate my sister's birthday. I honestly don't remember the last time I got to celebrate with her in person so we were WAY overdue! We happened to get tickets to the David Crowder Band concert through the youth group at the church Cyndi is teaching at right now. I wasn't feeling very well, but I pulled myself together, gathered a bunch of Kleenex and off we went. Turns out we had 2nd row tickets and through some interesting circumstances, we ended up back stage to meet the band.

Since I'm all about the "instant connection", I threw out (as we were herded past for our 5 sec photo op) that I went to Baylor and got a round of "Sic 'em Bears" from them. I'm sure they will now never forget me.

I have to say that I really love that the 3 of us girls in this picture have far less hair than any one guy in the band. That's just awesome!

Never one to miss an opportunity to eat cake, I was excited to make my way to RJ Goodies for a bakery cake that is heavenly. Oh, how I miss it already! I'm lucky I even got this picture...

As we all know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Amazingly enough, I have only had one woman close to me do battle with this disease and win, but through the wonderful world of blogs, I have met another amazing survivor. She is close to my age, has 3 kids, an incredible outlook on life, and is now officially a survivor. Way to go Erica!! You can meet her here and read her incredible story!

Tomorrow we take G back to the doctor to see why his CT scan came back abnormal this summer. I am praying it's scar tissue and nothing more. I will keep you posted!! Scot is actually in town so he's going with me which I am very grateful for!!

Speaking of in town/out of town (we were talking about that, right?), we are definitely moving to Singapore at the end of the school year. Scot will move in Feb or March and the boys and I will leave when school ends. We have registered them at the American School there and are getting their passports tomorrow. It's going to be an interesting 7 months between now and when we leave alternating between time crawling by and time moving too quickly. It is all very overwhelming for me right now! We are going to have to be very purposeful in our marriage for the next many months since most of that time we will be apart.

Life is most definitely an adventure and I'm excited to see where God leads us! Between now and then, I think I will start brushing up on some Mandarin!

  1. Ok, first of all THANK YOU for your sweet shout out! (And of course I don't care!)

Second, YOU'RE MOVING TO SINGAPORE?! Wow! And you kinda talk about it like you're moving across the state, not the WORLD! What an exciting time for your family. Is it weird that I'm sad even though we've never met?! I guess I think the possibility of meeting you someday is much more likely if you're in Houston, rather than Singapore...well, I guess it is! But still. Are the boys excited? I'm sure Scot is over the moon that you and the boys will be joining him! It is awesome. But I will still miss you, in a never-met-you-but-wish-I-could kind of way! I will keep you and the fam in my prayes for a smooth transition and easy next 7 months and beyond.

I will also keep G and his dr appt in my prayers. I am Believing God to be big for you!! Love ya sister!

  2. Hi Keri,
I followed the link to your blog from the LPM blog - I'm so glad someone else had to get caught up on logging in her verses too! :)
I've only read a handful of your blog posts but I look forward to reading more...I feel like we have a LOT in common. Unfortunately, the commonality I'm most excited about right now is the chin whisker situation. {Thank you Jesus for letting me know that I am actually not the only woman in the world who battles this monster!} Seriously, this is a REALLY big deal to me! My worst nightmare is being really sick or something and not being able to keep up on it...and people coming to visit me...and I have a full beard going on. SCARY!
Anyway, I just might need a little more info on what you're having done. I went to the dermatologist last year to talk with a specialist about laser treatment but she was very discouraging and ended up talking me out of it. Maybe there is hope after all? Although, two weeks without plucking would probably mean two weeks without leaving my house...yikes!!

  3. Okay, Keri...I'm back. While I have to admit, you had me at 'chin whiskers', I read back some more and I am intrigued your story. God is moving powerfully in your life and I'm on the edge of my seat, looking forward to seeing how your story will continue to play out. God has clearly blessed your obedience and it sounds like He is preparing you (and your family) for something HUGE!!
I am just sitting back and marveling at how God uses the internet, something the enemy uses for so much evil, for His good.
How one woman sharing her struggles, triumphs, joy, heartbreak and just daily life can bring so much encouragement to others.
I have been blessed by reading your words today, and my faith has been built up by reading your story. Thank you for sharing your life!
I will be praying for you and your sweet family!
    God bless,
    Amanda

  4. Hey I have sent you a couple of comments and have yet to heard back from you. I am sure you are very busy...but I was really wanting to know about a devotion book you like that is good for boys. Lisa said you had one that you loved and Id like to get the name of it.

I can't believe you guys are moving...that is VERY exciting, and scary at the same time. Makes my heart sort of race thinking of it.

Ill be praying for you sweet friend....
